Who am I?
Hi there! My name is Matteo Muscat. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I was born and raised in Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada. I went to St. Joseph's Catholic Grade School and later attended St. Thomas of Villanova High School, where I graduated with my diploma. As I was nearing the end of high school, I decided I had enough interest in programming to pursue it in post-secondary school, and that's exactly what I did.
Now, I'm a student at the University of Windsor, majoring in Computer Science, Software Engineering with a co-op option. Continuing along the journey of my studies, I've truly enjoyed coding more and more as time goes on. The greater my knowledge expands, so does my enjoyment. That is the reason why developing my website was a crucial priority for me. I knew it would extend my knowledge even further, and not only that, I absolutely loved creating and designing this website in and out. Let's dive into the details and the work that went into this website!
The Website...
This site is coded purely using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Here’s a quick look at how I built it from start to finish: I first made sure the site worked well both functionally and visually on local servers, then pushed it to GitHub. Next, I uploaded all videos used on the site to the cloud and deployed the website on Vercel. After that, I programmed the backend logic for the "Like" page, purchased my domain name, and polished anything that needed attention. This was my first time creating a website from the ground up, so I made it a point to use as few external resources as possible to aid its creation (e.g., AI like ChatGPT). I can honestly say about 80–90% of the code and foundation was written by me; the remaining portion was for animations and little things here and there where I needed a bit of help.
The purpose of this site, if I am being honest, I'm not entirely sure. The important thing is that I had a ton of fun building it, and if you're not having any fun then what's the point right? I do think there could be some use and purpose behind it. It's a way for potential employers to get a sense of who I am, outside of the resume.
The site features several unique pages. The first being the homepage, which is where the user is sent initially. This features access and quick links to all other existing pages on the site. The about page is the one you are currently reading. As you know, this page is filled with information and details about myself and the site. If you need to contact me, you guessed it, the contact page is the way to go. That is where you'll find all of my socials, GitHub and more. Documents will contain my resume and any other important files I may have. The news section should have any cool updates I'd ike to announce, which I am going to try and stay on top of. For projects, I don't have many at the moment, however overtime when I do eventually create some they will be placed in there. Finally, if you enjoyed your experience exploring what I've created, please show some love on the Like page! It features a like button, my goal is to get 5 likes. FYI, you can only like it once though, so no spamming.
If you've read all of this, which it's likely that you didn't, thanks for taking the time to do so, as it is greatly appriciated!
